Identifying Antichrist

F
or centuries, many have read
the Scriptures which prophesy of the world’s final dictator who will rise to
power in the last days. Theories have abounded as to who this man will be, and,
equally important, where will he originate? It has been a popular pastime to
pick the most evil despot of the time, point one’s finger and say, “That’s him!”
Some have thought that the coming Antichrist would be Judas returned from the
dead, or one of the Caesars. With the rise of Catholicism in the 600’s, every
pope was tagged as the ultimate bad-guy. In more recent history, theorists
strongly proclaimed Hitler or Mussolini to be Satan’s final man of the hour.
Juan Carlos of Spain has been the choice of some because of his braggadocios
titles. Saddam Hussein has been a popular candidate, along with the Ayatola
Ruola Khomeni of Iran. Add to this mix men like Russia’s Ghorbechav, Korea’s
Sung Yung Moon, and virtually every American president since Lincoln, especially
Bill Clinton, and you have a very interesting, if not humorous menagerie.
The most avid scriptorians, however, will quickly admit that none of these meet
the Biblical criteria. It must be kept in mind that the holy Bible is the final
authority when establishing Biblical bottom-line.
The future final dictator will be an Assyrian who will originate in Syria. How
will this come about? After the fall of their great empire, the Assyrians
resided in what is now northwestern Iraq. Centuries later, the Ottomans
pressured many of them to move into Syria. Today, there is still an impressive
representation of Assyrians living in Syria. It can be safely assumed that the
future Antichrist is one of these Assyrians.
Syria: Point of Origin
Several Scriptures quickly settle the issue of what people the future Antichrist
springs from and exactly where he originates (read Isaiah 10:20-27; 14:25;
30:31; 31:8; Micah 5:3-15).
Here is another twist. In Isaiah 14:4, this future dictator is called “The King
of Babylon.” This puts him in the city of Babylon during the first half of
Daniel’s 70th Week, (also called the Tribulation) The next reference which
determines his destination is found in Daniel 9:27:
“He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the
week, he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the
overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
Note that 3 1/2 years into the Tribulation, Antichrist takes over the new Jewish
Temple in Jerusalem. 2 Thessalonians 2:4 states, “Who opposeth and exalteth
himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God
sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
The next question is, How does Antichrist get from Babylon, Iraq to the Temple
in Jerusalem, Israel halfway into the 7 year peace covenant? The answer is found
in Daniel 11:40-41.
40 “And at the time of the end shall the king of the south (Egypt) push at him:
and the king of the north (Antichrist) shall come against him like a whirlwind,
with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into
the countries, and shall overthrow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land (Israel), and many countries shall
be overthrown:…” This, added to chapter 9:27 and 2 Thessalonians 2:4 confirm
that Antichrist will break his 7 year peace covenant with the Jews by a
surprise, blitzkrieg attack against Israel. This is when Antichrist takes over
the Jewish Temple and sets up his headquarters in it.
However, this most evil of men will be destroyed by Messiah Yeshua Himself.
“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the
spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming” (2
Thess. 2:8). The word destroy is from the Greek analisko, to kill, destroy. (see
also Isa. 11:4; Dan. 7:11; 8:23-25; 9:27; 11:45). Y

Mice with Bubonic Plague Disappear from Lab
Three mice with Bubonic Plague disappeared from a research laboratory in
Newark, New Jersey two weeks before the news of their disappearance was given to
the news media on Sept. 15th, 2005. A spokesman said that they could not have
escaped. All of the employees have been given lie detector tests. If left alone,
the mice will die quickly. There is concern, however, that terrorists may have
taken them to develop a plague for biological warfare. The FBI is investigating.

Arabs in Sinai
Rush Gaza Border
While Israel controlled the Gaza Strip for 38 years, they guarded the Gaza
boarder with the Egyptian Sinai peninsula. Since the Israelis have evacuated
from the region, thousands of Arabs from the Sinai region have poured across the
border, overwhelming the Egyptian border guards. There is concern that hard-core
terrorists are now in Gaza. Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigade, the terrorist wing of Al-Fatah
set up security checkpoints to try to stop blatant looting and destruction of
the thousands of greenhouses which Israel left behind so Palestinian Arabs can
start out with new jobs. Y

Arab Countries
Iranian president Ahmadinejad has made a public announcement that they refuse
to cooperate with US and UN urgings that they stop their massive nuclear
program. He said that instead, Iran will share their nuclear technology with all
Moslem countries. Y
Gas Prices Headed
For $5 per Gallon
In a Fox News interview with an oil expert insider, it was
announced October 3, 2005 that oil will go to $100 per barrel. This computes to
$5 per gallon at the pump for regular gasoline. How long before this becomes
reality? Within two years, said the oil expert. It was also stated that home
heating oil will double within one year.
Many of the familiar gas companies in America have been bought up by European
oil companies, who are determined to pull the U.S. into alignment with the
prices being paid for gas in EU nations. England pays $5 per gallon for their
gas, which originates from Arab wells.
The Moslem agenda is to break the back of the American economy any way they can,
and to strip the U.S. of its super-power status. England and France are on the
verge of being overthrown by the Moslems. Once America is made too weak to help
others, and her ability to lead the world by example has been removed, then,
despotic power brokers will take over other countries at will. An era of chaos
will result. This scenario perfectly fits the prophetic climate predicted to
take place in the coming Tribulation.
These severe price changes in gas and oil will have a catastrophic affect on the
U.S. economy. Virtually everything relating to business is connected to the
free-flow of oil products. There is no doubt that massive change is about to be
forced on all Americans. This, in turn, will have a domino effect on nations
around the world. We well may be witnessing the catalyst that will bring the
beginning of the 70th Week of Daniel (Dan. 9:24-27).

Israel Tourism Rises,
Passes 1 Million
The evacuation of Jewish settlers from the Gaza area and
from northern Samaria has not deterred tourists from visiting Israel. The
Tourism Ministry and the Central Bureau of Statistics reported a 36% increase in
tourist arrivals right up to the disengagement.
200,500 tourists came to Israel in July alone. The number was 147,000 in July of
2004. 29% were foreign visitors.
“It definitely feels safer now, and there’s a definite sense of freedom here,”
said Allen Tuback, who had last been to Israel in 1997. Y

Will He Be a
Civilized Neighbor Now?
The immense cost of trauma for thousands of Israelis forced out of their
properties along the Gaza Strip and in Samaria, and the massive loss of homes
and financial investments in businesses is historic indeed. Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon’s controversial withdrawal from these two Biblical areas of God’s
Promised Land has handed Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas a rare opportunity.
Sharon has wiped the slate clean in Gaza.
If Abbas will rise to the challenge, he can show Israel and the watching world
that he can become a peaceful, civilized neighbor. He has indicated in
rhetorical remarks made August 26, a desire to move in this direction, saying
that the PA will develop the land for the general good. Abbas spoke of building
thousands of public housing apartments, and establish political normalcy by
scheduling Palestinian elections by January, 2006.
A decade ago, plans were drawn up to set up a Gaza free-trade zone that could
make Gaza the “Hong Kong of the Middle East.” The continued brain-washing of
Arab youth, turning them into hate-filled human sacrifices to the moon-god
killed any chance for modernization among these people.
Now, amid hopeful statements, Abbas has also declared the PA will not rest until
Israel is forced back to the 1949 Armistice lines, and all the millions of
descendants of Palestinians who willingly left in 1948 must be allowed into
Israel with full voting rights. Their idea is to vote all Jews out of Israel,
creating a totally Muslim country. Abbas also strongly opposes the Security
barrier. The Muslim fanatics can’t get to Israelis to kill them now. Border acts
of terror have dropped 80% since the construction of the fence.
Mahmoud Abbas tried to upstage Hamas by claiming credit for forcing Israel out
of Gaza and Samaria. He said, “There is no other way but to acknowledge that all
of our achievements, including the pullout, are first and foremost due to those
who lost their lives and made sacrifices. They paved the way for us, and the
pullout shows that our vision was correct.”
I hope that he will immediately dismantle the many Islamic terrorist groups
under his Al-Fatah umbrella. However, the Scriptures reveal that Gaza’s
murderous attitude continues until God Himself destroys the entire strip
sometime in the last 3 1/2 years of the coming 70th Week (see Isa. 14:29-32;
Zech. 9:5-7; Amos 1:6-8; Zeph. 2:4-7). Y
