Gaining the Golan Heights

 On Sunday, July 23, 2006, Syria said that it was ready for talks with the United States to broker a cease-fire, according to a report from USA TODAY, but only if doing so would lead to a return of the Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria during the 6-Day War in June of 1967.

Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Mekdad said Syria could “facilitate communication” with Hezballah to help end the crisis. He said, “America and Israel are mistaken to think that destroying Lebanon will bring peace. What Israel is doing with U.S. involvement will only produce more violence and hatred.” The wording of this statement shows Hezballah’s determination to continue to hold the two Israeli soldiers they kidnapped as bargaining chips, and to continue their missile attacks upon northern Israel.

John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, repeated calls for Syria, a strong patron of Hezballah, to pressure the group to stop firing rockets into Israel and to release two Israeli soldiers whose capture ignited the conflict. Lebanon’s foreign minister, Fawzi Salloukh, said the two soldiers are in good health.

Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Israel could accept an international force to guard the southern Lebanese border with Israel, preferring it be led by NATO, to keep Hezballah a safe distance from the Israeli border. Bolton said Washington was open to a multinational peacekeeping force without a U.S. contingent.  Y

Syria needs the Golan Heights for Antichrist’s
coming Invasion of Israel

 I have written frequently that the Golan Heights is militarily priceless to both Israel and Syria. The high elevation of the Golan region provides tremendous military advantage for whoever occupies it. From its heights, I can view most of the northern Israeli cities from Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee to Haifa on the Mediterranean coast.  Y
 

Syria was not on the Golan Heights before 1950

 There was no Syrian presence on the Golan Heights from the 1800’s until the early 1950s when Syria moved military forces and equipment into the area. From then to June, 1967, not one civilian structure was built by them on the Golan. Instead, hundreds of military bunkers, tunnels, and weapons installations were installed by the Syrians, and manned by thousands of their soldiers. This is ample proof that Syria has no civilian agenda for the Golan Heights.

If Syria is permitted to acquire control of the Golan Heights, this ancient avowed enemy of the Jewish State would gain an immeasurable advantage over Israel’s entire northern region. Syrian forces would be able to cut off the entire northern portion of Israel from the rest of the country.

The Golan Heights is part of the Land Grant which God has covenanted to the Jewish people. With these facts before us, it is clear that Israel must not relinquish one inch of the Golan Heights (see Gen. 15:7-21; Ezek. 13-48:35 to see the territories promised to the Chosen people).   Y

Antichrist will enter Israel through the Golan Heights

Antichrist will first appear on the world scene at the ratifying of a seven-year, false peace covenant with Israel. This historic act will take place on day one-scene-one of the 70th Week of Daniel’s prophecy, also called the Tribulation. In fact, the signing of the peace covenant will launch the Tribulation (see Dan. 9:27; 8:24).

Three and one half years into the peace treaty, the Bible prophesies that Antichrist will break the treaty by a sudden invasion of Israel with the use of all Muslim multinational armies united. Isaiah 10:20--27 reveals that only a remnant of the present Jewish population will survive Antichrist’s slaughter campaign. Verses 28-32 graphically describes the slaughter of the Jews as Antichrist overcomes the Israeli resistance, and sweeps southward to conquer Jerusalem. The newly finished Jewish Temple will be taken over by the Wicked One’s forces. The Bible further prophesies that a global campaign to annihilate all Jews around the world will be launched 3 1/2 years into the Tribulation, coinciding with this massive invasion of Israel. It is my sad duty to inform you that 2/3 of all Jews living on earth at that time will be slaughtered by the followers of Antichrist (Ezek. 20:33-38; 22:19-22).

The Jewish survivors will have to run for their lives. Forced to flee their homeland, they will cross over the Dead Sea area into the kingdom of Jordan, where Moabite ladies will escort them to the temporary safety of the Rose-red city called Petra (read Ps. 60:6-12; 108:8-13; Isa. 16:1-5; 26:20-21; 42:11-13; 63:1-5; Ezek. 20:33-44; Dan. 11:36-45; Hos. 2:14-23; Matt. 24:15-22; Dan. 9:27; Rev. 12:6, 13-16).    Y

Messiah Revenges The
Murder of His Chosen

 At the end of the seven years of Daniel’s 70th Week, (3 1/2 years after Israel is invaded and defeated), Yeshua ha Mashiach will physically return from Heaven to take over this planet. He will bring with Him all of His heavenly angels:

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” (Matthew 25:31).
Included also in this heavenly invasion force will be all of the newly Raptured and glorified, redeemed followers of Yeshua:

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him” (Jude 14-15).   Y

Did you know?

2) “And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

And the great city was divided into 3 parts, and the cities of the nations fell:….And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great” (Rev. 16:19-21).   Y

Syria’s Assad
Like father, like son

Bashar Assad appears to be taking another page from his father’s playbook on how to be a strongman dictator. Syrian authorities have arrested dozens of human-rights activists and other dissidents in recent weeks.

Bashar’s actions seem to be out of weakness instead of strength, however. A much-awaited June 15 UN report tied Syria to the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Syrian exiles gathered in London to discuss how to bring regime change. Leading the opposition National Salvation Front are 2 unlikely partners: former Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam, a secular former loyalist of Bashar’s father, Hafez Assad, who broke with Bashar, accusing him of ordering Hariri’s murder. The other is Ali Sadreddin Bayanouni, leader of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.

In a Harvest News article in 2000, I predicted a relatively short regime for Bashar, from the day he took office after the death of Hafez, his father. A change appears likely in the short-term as evidenced by the current instability.
The reason for my interest in high-level instabilities in Syria is because of this country’s latter-day significance in Bible prophecy. The future Antichrist will originate from Syria (see Isa. 10:20-27; 14:25; 30:31; 31:8; Micah 5:3-15).

Israel will turn to Messiah as a nation and will be “born in a day,” on the day Yehovah (Jesus) returns to Earth on the last day of the Tribulation to defend and preserve Jerusalem (Isa. 31:8). Then the Assyrian (Antichrist) will be destroyed, “not by an ordinary man,” but by Messiah Himself (Rev. 21:11-21), (see also Dan. 7:11, 21-22; 8:23-25; Mic. 5; 2 Thess. 2:8; Rev. 19:19-21). These prophesies reveal the Antichrist emerging from the Syrian portion of the former Assyrian Empire.  Y
